The difference between a Mission Statement and a Vision Statement

The first week of 2024 is almost over and we have absolutely blown through it. (Note: not caused by the wind). šŸ’ØšŸƒ

Seeing the way that we have been able to grow and impact the market will always make our launch year memorable, but as we enter the beginning of a new year, new goals and ambitions become the main talking point of what comes next for us. šŸŽÆ

But as life always goes, new goals are always closely followed by new lessons to be learned... šŸ’šŸ§

The first one in 2024 comes in the form of, defining who you are... ā“

In order for us to grow and expand, we know we have to determine our Vision and Mission Statements, something that many entrepreneurs will know in their heart, but will not have defined in writing. šŸ‘ļø

Here are our top-tips for defining your Vision and Mission Statements:

šŸ§  Know the Difference šŸ§

Mission Statements are a single paragraph explaining what your business looks to accomplish in the market, what problems it wants to solve, and how it goes about achieving them.

Vision Statements on the other hand, are usually a single sentence, and defines the legacy of your company long into the future, usually written in the context of what you want your consumers to say about you.

šŸ“ˆ Know the Benefits šŸ“ˆ

Many entrepreneurs will know what their organization is trying to achieve but not have a defined Mission and Vision Statement to refer to, or not know why its beneficial.

Having a strong mission and vision defined not only allows you to keep track of the progression of your firm's growth to see if its meeting the defined purpose it was designed to do, it makes for a great reference point when making future decisions that could affect the operations of the firm.

It's also a great tool for presenting your idea to others, could lead to a stronger rapport with consumers, or could even be useful in presenting to an investor or achieving a business loan.

šŸŖž Know Yourself šŸŖž

Mission and Vision Statements don't just assess the business, they assess yourself to see if your ideas and your dreams are aligned and if you're doing the best that you can to reach your goals. It's important to remember that growth has to come from within before it can affect the business, so being self-reflective is the only way to truly assess your progress.
